The “2024 Taoyuan Star City STAR UP New Year’s Eve Celebration” is scheduled to happen on the evening of December 31, 2023, at the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station Front Square. To manage the anticipated large number of people and traffic for the event, a three-phase traffic control plan will be implemented around the venue. The plan aims to facilitate smooth traffic flow and ensure public safety.
Traffic control will be in effect from 3:00 pm on December 31, 2023, until 1:00 am on January 1, 2024. The main controlled areas will include sections of the East and West roads in front of the High-Speed Rail Station in Zhongli District, Section 3 of Linghang South Road, and the road in front of the High-Speed Rail Station. Vehicles will not be allowed to travel or park within the controlled zones, and there will be increased enforcement of illegal parking in the surrounding areas, as detailed in the traffic control map.
For the New Year’s event, those riding motorcycles can park at the motorcycle parking lot in front of the station (entrance on West Road in front of the High-Speed Rail Station) and designated red and yellow line parking areas to the west of West Road in front of the High-Speed Rail Station. Those driving cars can park at the Qingpu Soccer Field parking lot or in designated red and yellow line parking areas south of Linghang South Road. Nearby public and private parking lots are also available, and the “Taoyuan Easy Go” app can be used to check the status of these parking areas.
The Transportation Bureau reminds attendees that although red and yellow line parking will be available near the venue, it will be limited due to traffic control and the number of spaces available. Therefore, it is recommended to use the Airport MRT and public transportation to travel to and from the event. The city government has arranged two free shuttle bus lines from Taoyuan Train Station and MRT A22 Laojie River Station to the venue, with buses running every 10-20 minutes. The schedule will be adjusted dynamically based on crowd size.
After the event, attendees can take the shuttle above the lines to Taoyuan Train Station or A22 Laojie River Station. Additionally, at 01:00, free shuttle buses on the Daxi and Longtan lines will be added, departing from the platform at the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station and stopping at the existing 5096 and 5053 bus route stations. The 208 city bus will add a 01:00 service for attendees, and Taiwan Railways will add four extra train services. The Airport MRT will operate continuously for 41 hours.
The Transportation Bureau advises those driving to the event to use surface roads to return home and avoid heavy traffic heading to the freeways. A taxi queuing area will be set up on Qingyuan Road and Qingjing Road in Zhongli District (near the West Parking Lot in front of the station) for those needing a taxi after the event.
